When invited to the first Streetlevel public space exhibition in Dresden, I decided to provide the public with a rarely-seen view of ‘street level’ by digging a cubic hole of 170cm in a urban field near the intersection of two roads. While digging, blackened bricks were discovered from houses destroyed in the WWII fire-bombing of the city; these were incorporated into stabilizing the walls of the pit. Participants climbed in via a ladder and looked out over the field and street at eye level - a new perspective.
