Villa Walden

Villa Walden is situated on a small rise in the forests of Mount Lushan in central China, symbolizing the romantic ideal of living in the middle of nature. A model of Thoreau’s cabin built on a scale of 1:4, it is made of concrete and other building materials universally used all over the world. The concrete is a nod to the vast and sudden expansion of Chinese cities. But nature always has the last word, and as soon as humans abandon those places, it will overwhelm the concrete. Villa Walden was left to disintegrate into the forest in a natural manner.
