I Think

I Think is based on a drawing that Charles Darwin made – a rough sketch of how he saw species branching out in the context of his theory of evolution: he called it “The Tree of Life”. The image is a three dimensional spatial drawing, permanently placed on the wall of a building at California State University in Bakersfield.

The branches of Darwin's tree express evolution on many levels, particularly in relation to what happens on a university campus, with its various branches of knowledge, but also in unifying the opportunities a university provides its students and the permission to proceed with one's own theories.

The work was made during the "Sculptors On Campus" program.
