Stomping Ground

Stomping Ground is a kind of zoo for window-shoppers, a light-hearted comment on our commodification of animals in a world that has less and less to do with them. The very narrow space between the window and the installation is confrontational, as though the viewer is in the cage with the animals, while the space behind it is easily accessible and roomy, the now-visible structure almost acting as bars that keep those animals at bay.

Composed of screens depicting the kinds of plastic animal figures we are all familiar with, the viewer is invited to peruse the animal world at a safe distance, satisfying their material curiosity but questioning the validity of a buried instinct to connect with them.
